This was a really great charity event. The dinner was fabulous. You could have your choice of chicken or steak. The wine from Miranda Lambert's label was really good. There were some really good items in the silent auction. Unfortunately, someone outbid me on the items I wanted. Then the concert started! I had my doubts about not having the band, but never again will I worry about that! It was one of the best concerts I have ever been to. The show was opened by Clancy Davis, which I believe is Blake's cousin. After Clancy there was a live auction in which a couple of the nicer items was a $3500 sapphire and diamond necklace as a surprise item if you bought the right box for just $50 and a miniature horse that Miranda named "Sugar" after her mom and dad purchased it for her. I wanted that baby but I can't have him on my small 1 1/4 acre of land! Then the highlight - Blake and Miranda! They were very good together, each complimenting the others vocals in exactly the right places. In between songs there was the always funny comments & jabs between the two of them. The lighting guy done a fabulous job with the lights making it even more spectacular. There were no props or backdrops, but there were none needed! At the end, Blake and Miranda were presented with hunting knives that were made from the antlers of deer they had harvested on their land. And finally, the college presented them with hunting rifles that were made by the gunsmithing department of the college. They were both so excited. The expressions on their faces were priceless! I will attend this benefit again if they do it next year. And yes, they did hint that it might become an annual thing. Sure hope so.
