NASHVILLE, TN – (September 6, 2011) – Blake Shelton was honored this morning with five CMA Award nominations including their most prestigious honor, “Entertainer of the Year.” This is Shelton’s first nomination of his career in the Entertainer category at any award show. He is also up for the CMA Award for “Male Vocalist of the Year” and his infectious multi-week smash-hit, “Honey Bee” receives two nominations in the categories of “Single of the Year” and “Music Video of the Year” (Trey Fanjoy). His No. 1 Album, All About Tonight, produced by Scott Hendricks, is up for “Album of the Year.” Also today, Shelton reveals his remake of the classic song, “Footloose” exclusively available on AOL and AOL’s The Boot. "Footloose" will be on the Sept. 27 Footloose soundtrack, which is available now for pre-order on iTunes. Shelton’s emotionally powerful music video for “God Gave Me You” debuts today, as well, on his official website, www.BlakeShelton.com. The music video includes a never-before-seen testimonial from Miranda Lambert that was shot before their May wedding.

“To be honest, I secretly hoped that I’d get this nomination one day, but I never thought I actually would,” said a slightly shocked Shelton. “After 10 years of watching my friends receive this incredible honor, I got pretty used to being a cheerleader for them, ya know? I didn’t expect this today but I know I wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for my band and crew. Most of them have been with me from the beginning of my career, and they are such a big part of why I get to do what I love. Tracy Broussard, Rob Byus, Kevin Canady, Philip Desteiguer, Brett Hardin, Travis Medlin, Jeff Parsons, Kevin Post and Beau Tackett – thank you guys for helping me get here. I love you.”

The 45th Annual CMA Awards - “Country Music’s Biggest Night” - will broadcast live on the ABC Television Network from the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville on Wednesday, Nov. 9 (8:00 PM/ET).

Shelton’s fastest rising single, "God Gave Me You," is a particularly important song on his new album, Red River Blue, because it reminds him of his relationship with country music superstar, Miranda Lambert. He first heard the song while he was driving and was so moved by the lyrics that he had to pull his truck over. The moment he heard "God Gave Me You" with all of the correlations it had to his own life, Shelton knew that he needed to cut the song on his album.

Blake Shelton is the reigning CMA Male Vocalist of the Year and one of the "most versatile of contemporary country singers" (The New York Times). The country superstar's new single “God Gave Me You” is his fastest rising single and is off his new album Red River Blue. Red River Blue debuted at No. 1 on the Soundscan Top Current Albums chart and Soundscan Top Country Albums chart with the Associated Press calling the album “the best album of his career.” Shelton’s infectious multi-week No. 1 hit, “Honey Bee" is also off his new album and is Shelton’s first ever digital Platinum single. Shelton holds the record for the fastest-selling digital Platinum single for a male country solo artist. The single held the No. 1 spot on the Billboard Country chart for four weeks in a row with over 40 million in audience. No country artist has held this record in almost six years. The single marks Shelton's fourth consecutive No. 1 hit: “Honey Bee,” "Who Are You When I'm Not Looking," "All About Tonight" and "Hillbilly Bone." Shelton has nine No. 1 hits and has not had a single peak outside the Top Ten since 2007.

Hope you make it to Wisconsin again in the near future so I can come see you! (You were @State Fair in August but I was out of town)

I was at the CMA awards show to see Blake win the Male vocalist of the year last year. The first time that I ever went, I was picked to be one of his fans by the stage when he sang All About Tonight on the show. I had a Fantastic time! I REALLY want to go again this year to see Blake win Entertainer of the Year! I'm not sure that i can swing it though, my husband will be just finishing up chemo treatments a couple of weeks before the show. It's been a tough 6 months. Congratulations on 5 nominations, Blake!

for the first time ever I will be at The CMA Awards show. Our local DJ Kevin Richards is nominated and there's a group of us from the Albany NY area attending. Woohoo maybe I'll get to see you also there. :o)

I was at a concert at a county fair a few years ago. Mentioned to the guy at the merch. table that it was just a matter of time before Blake got the attention he deserves. The guy said in essence that it wouldn't happen. Can't remember exactly how he put it but, I am so happy to be able to say, "I told you so!"

This is a great day for Blake.
Love his comment's about the people who helped him get where he is today, but with his undeniable talent it had to happen!
