Blake - I walked on your Cincinnati team last night. Let me just say it was such a touching experience. I thought they did a great job putting the walk together. One of the teams was walking for a little girl I think she may have been 4. She was in remission from one type of Leukemia when she diagnosed with another form and had a bone marrow transplant. She stood on the stage and sang "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star" and her ABC's. It was so touching and she was doing so well. I think the most touching part was at the end of the opening ceremony they asked all of the survivors to hold up their balloons (only theirs were white). I look accross the crowd and saw a sea of white balloons and realized how important the Light the Night Walk really is. Blake - thank you for choosing this charity!!!!

Betty, I'm so glad you participated! We have the OK walk tomorrow night and I'm really looking forward to it.
I hope everyone who goes out and walks writes their experiences here so Blake can read them. Smiling

Katherine, congrats on your lengthy remission!!!

Hi Blake................ Katherine, congrats on your remission. This is a great cause close to my heart. My husband had AML 25 years ago we hoped so much for a cure. He did pass within 10 months and our sons were 8 & 10. So this cause is close to our family and many others. We hope there will be a cure soon. Thanks to all.

I will be participating in the Light the Night Walk here in Middletown, MD on Oct 10th. I am glad I can help in a small way, but if everyone joined a team just think of the money we can raise. Going to meet Blake tonight at the Great Frederick Fair. My first meeting can't wait.

WOW, is this actually your first post on the new forum. I am all the way behind this fundraiser and have always supported your fundraisers.

But Blake don't be a stranger to your own board.

I usually walk for my niece's team but they didn't walk this year so we joined your team in Toledo, OH. I thought I was joining a bunch of fans to walk for a great cause. The Wednesday before the walk our local chairwoman made me the team captain because my husband and myself were the only walkers for you here. Yikes! I did not have enough time to put much together - I recruited my granddaughters and my son to walk and we raised $937.50. If I had known it was just me I would have tried to recruit some more fans to help - I feel bad. I did get enough donations so my husband can meet you at the next show we go to - he is a HUGE Blake Shelton fan - and a HUGER Miranda Lambert fan - I like Blake and Miranda too and I am so appreciative of your efforts to help fight blood cancers. My niece is 9 and was diagnosed with AML 1 month after her 5th birthday - she is one of a set of quadruplets - all are well today, her grandfather suffers from Multiple myeloma, another brother-in-law is in remission with AML, a friend was just disagnosed with multiple myeloma - and we also walked for a young man who lost his battle with ALL at age 18 this past summer - learned about him on the Alan Jackson fanboard. Thank you Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert for your attention to this cause - I hope you reach your goal - and I am so tickled to have been a part of your team Blake - Hugs - Gayle PS - We were so lucky to have seen the Monroe MI show that you and Miranda did together - it was FABULOUS!!!

I'm so glad you walked. I had the same experience in Oklahoma...but family is a good place to start.
Maybe next year, some of them will bring friends and it will continue to grow. It sounds like you are
making a great team captain. I hope a BSer will sign up to be a team captain in every city where there
is a walk.

I'll be calling national headquarters next week and setting up a way for the rewards to be redeemed. I know
a couple of people for sure will be getting phone calls from Blake. Smiling

I want to start a BSer team for Seattle this year. When's the best time to get started?

By: Lisa6463BSer Posts: 732

Pearl, the walks are usually in the Fall but u can start a team any time. Team Shelton raised about 18,000 between the party last year and the rest. Let's make BS proud and try to beat that this year Smiling

We have teams in 5 cities: Cincinnati, Nashville, OKC, San Jose, Toledo.
There are walks in over 200 cities in the US and Canada. If you are interested
in starting a team in a city near you, let me know. Just write me at Carolprez@cableone.net
and I will hook you up with someone to help you get started. You have plenty of time to
round people up for the walk in Fall 2010 as well as raise money before then.
We will start auctions again next week...so keep your eyes peeled for something you'd like.
Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Carolprez - your link to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society is not working - it goes to a "this site is under construction " page when I click on it. I see you said you have a team in Toledo - is that going to be my team again in 2010? Gayle

Testing the link
The link does work now on my signature, but all the ones before today have to be edited one at a time.
I fixed the one in this thread but don't have time to do them all.
