What is the Biggest and Craziest Thing you've done for Blake?

By: Pearlms1974BSer Posts: 209

I feel as if I've gone crazy, so I had to post this question to see who else does crazy BS for BS!!

At the gentle nudging of a couple fellow BSers and twitter friends, I am flying accross the country - from Seattle to Florida - in December to see Blake! I have never before been this crazy about an artist to fly across country to see a show!

OK, so to be fair to myself, I am actually going for a couple reasons:
-Besides Blakes show on Dec 12, Jake Owen (another fav of mine) has a show in his hometown the night before
-Besides Blake, Craig Morgan, whom I've never seen in concert and Jason Michael Carroll will be at the show
-my birthday is in December. What better gift to give myself than Blake and Jake.

I'm very excited about meeting Lisa and Vicky, too.

So, tell me the crazy stuff you've all done so I feel better.......

SO EXCITED about it now that I've made the plunge to do it, though!! Gonna be awesome!

Pearl you are not alone. I have done some stuff. The last two years I have seen Blake 6 to 8 times going from AL, MS, LA, TN. This year tops it I am flying to Tulsa to see him and the next week to Biloxi. I have won items in auctions, $400 shirt, $355 hat, home plaque, guitar necklace & more. Later I will have to go into the black curtain.

Well, I hate it, but I have not been on here in quite some time. Now that I have finally logged in, I see it was the day my Mother passed away. I did not realize that was the day I was on here last. It will be three months tomorrow. I really miss her so much. We were so close! We are also right in the middle of all this flooding so it has been crazy for me the last three months. I really had not even realized it had been that long since I was on here. I used to log on several times a day.

Oh well... I have done a few things in the name of the one and only Blake Shelton. I live in Georgia and I have flown as far as Las Vegas, NV to see him. And yes, I really went just to see him. Oh by the way, my husband was there doing some work and had wanted me to come there for a while. I didn't go UNTIL I knew Blake was going to be there. So I bought tickets the minute they went on sale, front row, no doubt and flew out there. That was the BEST Blake show I have EVER been to!! He sang to me quite a bit and that was weird. I guess he knew I was a true fan because I was singing every word so he looked my way and was singing quite a bit. After the show, I said that was a great show. My husband said I guess it was... he sang to you the whole night. WOW! He noticed too! Oh well, what can I say. I guess that was my once in a lifetime show. Everybody deserves one! That was the best thing about that trip to Vegas. It was nice seeing my husband too. LOL

I also buy anything and everything Blake!! I bid on and sometimes pay whatever it takes to get a Blake item I don't have. I wear my Blake shirts and stuff ALL THE TIME! I buy enough of his CDs to have in each vehicle and at home in each CD player. I play Blake's music EVERY DAY! I have handed out membership forms at concerts to try and get people to join the fan club and talked to people about him and the fan club. I feel none of these things are CRAZY though!!!

Yeah, Lisa twittered me that she doesn't call it crazy, just enthusiastic!! My co-workers think I'm nuts, but are also jealous!

By: Linda2494BSer Posts: 501

I agree, we have been to many shows and put on many driving miles around 6,000 or more. Our best one was going to Las Vegas we knew Blake was presenting for the awards but we were excited when he sang and was in front of us. This was a great suprise that he was singing. We told him we were there and he said "I didn't see you" we laughed. And seeing Blake at the George Stait tribute, this was the best. We flew to this one and believe me I do not like to fly..... But for Blake I would fly, fly fly........ We are not crazy but my co-workers also think we are nuts........ They just don't know what they are missing... Blake is the best...

By: Sandra4265BSer Posts: 75

I totally agree with you both! I just feel bad for people that don't know Blake and his music. They are really missing out. He is the absolute BEST there is, no doubt!! Keep those miles adding up, ladies!! That's what I say!

I flew to Nashville this year by myself to meet my BSer buds I've only talked to on the board and go to the FC party, leaving my kids longer than I ever had before. It was sooo worth it!

Ive driven around the state when I lived in Louisiana, but he doesn't play close to Nashville for me to drive and see him. (Tunica once). But I made a sign that says "Shake-n-Blake" that has been to almost every show Ive been to and is still in good condition! One maybe stalkerish thing I did was see him after her performed at the Opry last December at the Ryman Auditorium and after almost everyone left, I hung around the side entrance where his bus was parked (he and Miranda were on it) hoping that he'd come out a see a few fans that were waiting around to talk to him! He never came out, so after about an hour and a half, I left......maybe next time!

Wow!! What a great idea!! See how many other 'crazies' there are out there so you feel better about yourself.... ;-D I love it! My partner-in-crime (CrazyCAgirlBS65) and I have done a few things that BORDER on crazy.... okay, maybe more than border. The very first time we saw Blake (in 2001), we made him a (rather large) gift basket and went and knocked on the bus door to tell them that we had this for him and that we didn't want to bring it in the venue. He came out of the bus to meet with us and examine the contents of the basket. (It was pretty cool to hear they enjoyed the contents of the basket the next night after getting snowed in.) We flew from CA to the middle of nowhere WI (in 2004) for a 4-day event. (Rob was shocked to see us, and knew that we didn't 'belong' in WI... he even knew that we were from CA.) Trick Pony, another one of our faves, was also there. I drove from CA to CO (in 2002) with another friend to see Blake at another 4-day festival. It was pretty early on, but Larry saw me and asked what I was doing so far from home. And he commented on how I had gone from long hair and glasses to short hair and contacts in the month since I had seen them last.
Ahhhh... and then there are the signs! We made signs for the second show (in 2001) that we went to. 3 or 4 years later, during a meet and greet, he says "Y'all are the ones with the signs." (Really??? the ONE thing he remembers are the signs??) It was a classic moment and one that we treasure.
I see that many of you have people in your lives that think you are crazy... co-workers, friends (that AREN'T BS'ers), family members. These are the ones that think you are nuts for making cookies, or seeing him more than once (...in a week), or FLYING anywhere to see him. But if they ONLY knew the joy it brings us for him to comment on how far you are from home, or whatever, it just makes the whole trip worth it!! It's been fun getting to know the members of the band over the years too. Back in the early days, they used to come out and hang out at the bar after the show. I miss those days (or maybe I AM missing them now because I have a long drive home, or early flight, or just need my SLEEP!)
Looking forward to seeing other stories posted.

One more thing Pearl...

It always makes it easier if you can "justify" your trip.... but it's my birthday and its not JUST for Blake... and it's SUNNY there. Not crappy ole rainy gray Seattle.

By: crazyCAgirl65 Posts: 38

Cheryl-love your post. Soooooo many BS memories. But you failed to mention that the crazy thing was not just the signs we made-but the fact that we ran around the bus (that you made me run around the bus) holding up the signs as it pulled into the parking lot. lololol They thought we were protesters. hahahaha I still think it's hilarious that THAT's what Blake remembers about us.

I think sitting in front of the venue that day in COLD December weather was pretty crazy too!

By: Linda2494BSer Posts: 501

How much fun you girls had..... What great memories we love to hear them all... How many times did you run around that bus? LOL Take care Linda & Dorothy your North Dakota BSer friends.

By: ToadalBSer231BSer Posts: 8

I just wanted to make sure he SAW the signs!!! Eye-wink Yes, we have had a LOT of fun over the years... but honestly, I don't think our 'craziest' things have been done with or for Blake.

I love all the stories. Yep, maybe now I dont feel so crazy Smiling And, perhaps the crazier things you have done, Cheryl, not for Blake might be for a whole other forum topic Smiling Hmmmm, maybe I need to come up with something crazier than just the trip from one side of the country to another.....

I had been to a couple of shows and met Blake prior to the fan club party this year. My sisiter has been a BSer for many years now and I always liked Blake. I talked her into going to the FC party this year. I did not even care about CMA fest going on as long as we saw Blake. We got VIP tickets and flew in just for the party. It was the best time I have had in a long time. I was in awe of how many BSers came from long distances by themselves and yet we all looked out for each other. Blake was AWESOME!!!! I can now say I LOVE Blake. I am going to see him again in two weeks on my birthday and got a meet and greet and am taking Buford. I expect it will be another great Blake memory. My friends who like Blake do no grasp how much I enjoy seeing Blake perform. I always want the best seat I can possibly get. Sitting during the concert is not an option!!! They call me a groupie...LOL. I admit Blake is easy to look at but I love the music!

By: countrymusicfan10 Posts: 2

that would be signing up here at his forum. I'm wondering if he can hook me up with some Whitney Duncan pics or something. hah! She's one smoking hot chick.

Besides that I'm a fan of the dude's music. Some beach and Ol' Red rock.

Let me see....crazy things I've done for Blake.

Drove from Phoenix to Anaheim to see Blake at the House of Blues (had a mountain jump in the road on the way there)

Drove from Phoenix to Los Angeles to see Blake perform on the Craig Ferguson show (changed my clothes in the car at the farmers market, then walked to the CBS studios in my stockinged feet)

Met Blake for the first time at Country Thunder in Florence AZ and gave him a pair of handcuffs as a gift.

Met Blake again at the State Fair in Phoenix AZ and walked up to him and said "How the hell are ya?"

Then there was this year's Fan Club party. Drove all the way from Phoenix to Nashville...stopping in Oklahoma to pick Ronda up.

Ahhh, good times. Smiling

Hi Lori! great stories girl! what did he say when sou said "how the hell are ya"??? and my god! why did you give him a pair of handcuffs? LOL...

By: Lori MoneypennyBSer Posts: 558

He said "I'm fine. How the hell are you?" and gave me a big ol' hug. I gave him the handcuffs as a joke. I looked way up at him and sheepishly said "These are for Tim to get even with you for the YouTube videos." He got a nice chuckle out of it and said "I'll use em on Tim."

LOL!!! you were awsome! thanks for shering that!

[/i] I have to laugh when I think about it but it was only a couple of days after seeing him at one event and then we were at another when I caught him by surprise. He comes walking in the door of the second event and is running his mouth to his then road manager Greg and sees me sitting there with Greg and literally says Oh my gosh didn't I just leave you in ? (in the town where we'd been) As he sat down to eat we talked about some of the activiities he'd done after he left the folks we'd been with. Much to his surprise he didn't think anyone would know. He then looked at Greg and asked him if he told me about what he'd done and Greg explained how could he because he wasn't even there. Blake, being ever the clown he is, asked me how I knew about things. I had him asking for quite a while how I knew. The poor woman who was trying to pour him a glass of water was taken by surprise so she almost spilled the water in his lap. Needless to say, I got a surprise off on Blake not only once but again a couple of years later by suprising him unexpectedly at a show in Ga. It was priceless to get him by surprise for a change.
