Relay For Life

Relay For Life represents the HOPE that those lost to cancer will never be forgotten, those that survive cancer will be supported, and someday cancer will be eliminated

My name is Sarah. I have been a Pediatric Hem/Onc nurse since Nov 2003. I wanted to become a nurse because of my Aunt who I idolized as a child. I wanted to become a pediatric Hem/Onc nurse after cancer changed my life. I am a fourteen year survivor of Burkitt's Leukemia. I was treated at Saint Louis Children's Hospital and after college I became a nurse on the same unit I was a patient. I worked on the inpatient Hem/Onc unit for three and a half years. Then I became a travel nurse. I have been to Cincinnati OH, St Petersburg FL, Kansas City MO, and Los Angeles CA working on Pediatric Hem/Onc inpatient units. I worked at The Costas Center (outpatient hem/onc clinic) in Cardinal Glennon Children's Hospital for a short time before traveling again. I am currently in Baltimore MD at Johns Hopkins Hospital. I truly enjoy helping children and their families fight cancer. I have met wonderful people everywhere I have gone and hope to continue to help overcome the battle for years to come. I Relay as a way to say Thank You to all those in my life who helped me through and to honor the children and families I have met and learned so much from since becoming a nurse. While I am fundraising from Baltimore and wherever I might land next, my Mom is fighting her own battle in Saint Louis. I will be back in Saint Louis in June for a night of HOPE and CELEBRATION.

Individually you will make a mark, but together we can make a breaktrough. Please take a moment to visit my webpage and donate to this wonderful event. http://main.acsevents.org/goto/rn4kid
